How to Engage on Instagram: New Instagram Funnel (Infographic)

The Instagram @creators account recently posted a straightforward yet highly insightful infographic to help creators organize their content types. Although social media professionals have suspected and discussed this for some time, it is now confirmed that each content type serves three main goals: Reach, Engage, and Nurture.

Along with this, Instagram revealed that each content type operates under its own algorithm (Source). For example, Reels considers watch time, shares, and like rates to reach a broader audience. Another significant factor is that it also looks at the previous post you liked from that same account to decide whether to show you more, which is why series are performing so well on Instagram right now (Source). 

Creating content on Instagram can sometimes feel overwhelming and frustrating with the oversaturation of posts and frequent platform changes, but keeping this funnel and key algorithm signals in mind can reduce the stress and help progress your efforts.
