Instagram Has Rolled Out Reposting - Here’s How You Can Make the Most Out of It

It’s finally here! The new reposting feature, which has been in testing for a few months, is now available to everyone. It’s still very similar to TikTok’s most popular feature. But as much as I’d love for Instagram to develop its own unique features, I can get behind this one.

One of my favorite parts of social media, besides connecting with friends, is sharing my interests with them. And as an introvert, I sometimes prefer doing that without making a big announcement (unless it’s a big news story or urgent info). I love how reposting effortlessly adds what you like to your friends’ newsfeeds and makes scrolling smoother.

Why should you be excited about this new feature? It’s a great chance for wider visibility for all accounts. Over the past year, social media has focused more on creating content that can be shared and saved, putting these metrics higher up on the priority list when tracking performance. So this feature is an even bigger incentive to push creators and strategists to create shareable content that people enjoy.

For creators, this adds another layer and opportunity to reach new audiences. When your content gets reposted, it appears on the feeds of your reposters’ friends, whether they follow you or not. Reposts also give credit to the original creator. This isn’t a call to overhaul your entire strategy, but it’s a good idea to think about the main goal of your content. Maybe that means tweaking your hooks or sharing your valuable information differently. As always, paying attention to what resonates with your audience is key!

For consumers, this is another fun and exciting way to discover more accounts that match their interests. Usually, your friends have similar tastes, so they might repost things you would also enjoy. Making social media more social!

Feeling overwhelmed? Start by scrolling through your own feed and see what you’d repost. Are there any patterns? Anything that stands out? Then try the same thing from your brand’s target audience point of view. From there, look for small ways to improve your content.

What will you repost next? 😄
