Social Cafecito: May 23, 2025
Happy Friday! How was everyone’s week? It’s been feeling like November in NYC, so hoping for some warmth again soon. 😄 In the meantime, here’s your roundup of the latest updates in social media and tech, along with some fun social posts that I’ve loved recently. Grab your cafecito and enjoy! ☕️
📣 Meta announced new ad updates for Facebook, Instagram, and Threads during IAB’s NewFronts 2025 last week. These updates include options for “video ads” on Threads and Facebook Live Partnership Ads. Check out these two sources (here and here) to read the full outline.
📱 Looking to switch up your content on Instagram? IG chief Adam Mosseri suggests letting your audience know of the change and archiving your previous content instead of starting a new account from scratch. This will help you maintain your engagement and reach. (Source)
🧵 Threads will now enable users to post up to five links to profiles. (Source)
😌 TikTok is looking to offer in-app mental health support, such as meditation prompts. Very interested to see how this works! (Source)
🪡 Threads tests option to create a profile separate from Instagram. (Source)
🧑💻 Instagram adds new DM options, including voice clip transcription. (Source)
🎵 Last week was Global Accessibility Awareness Week, and to mark the occasion, TikTok introduced more accessibility features, including alt text for photos. (Source)
☁️ TikTok expands its music options through Soundcloud integration to help users discover emerging artists. (Source)
🦋 Bluesky adds blue checks for verification, similar to Twitter. (Source)
